Elon Musk Keeps Tesla-SpaceX Merger Speculation Alive

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has fueled fresh speculation about a possible merger between Tesla and SpaceX, saying the two companies are working more closely together but stopping short of confirming any plans.

Speaking during Tesla's quarterly earnings call, Musk said there is increasing collaboration between the electric vehicle maker and the aerospace company. However, he noted that discussions about combining the businesses could not take place during an earnings call and would require the proper corporate process.

Growing Collaboration

Tesla and SpaceX already cooperate on several projects, including battery technology, manufacturing systems, and AI infrastructure. The companies are also jointly developing Terafab, a semiconductor manufacturing facility aimed at producing advanced AI chips.

Some analysts believe the growing operational ties make a future merger more likely, arguing that combining the companies could strengthen Musk's ambitions in artificial intelligence, robotics, energy, manufacturing, and space technology.

Challenges Remain

Despite growing speculation, experts caution that any merger would face significant regulatory and corporate governance hurdles. Analysts say approvals from regulators, particularly in international markets, along with differences in ownership structures, could complicate any potential deal.

For now, Musk has left the possibility open, keeping investors focused on whether Tesla and SpaceX could eventually become part of a single technology powerhouse.
