Starbucks Raises 2026 Sales and Profit Forecasts Again as Turnaround Strategy Gains Momentum
Starbucks has increased its annual sales and profit forecasts for the second time this year as Chief Executive Brian Niccol's turnaround strategy continues to boost customer demand and improve financial performance.
The world's largest coffee chain reported another quarter of comparable sales growth, signaling that investments in customer experience, operational efficiency, and menu simplification are beginning to deliver sustained results.
Starbucks Lifts Annual Sales and Profit Outlook
Starbucks now expects global comparable (same-store) sales growth of nearly 6%, raising its previous forecast of around 5% or higher.
The company also increased its outlook for adjusted earnings per share (EPS) to $2.55–$2.65, compared with its earlier guidance of $2.25–$2.45.
The improved outlook reflects stronger customer traffic and continued momentum across its global business.
Turnaround Strategy Drives Customer Growth
Since taking over as CEO, Brian Niccol has focused on improving the in-store customer experience through the company's "Back to Starbucks" strategy.
Key initiatives include:
-
Simplifying the menu
-
Reducing customer wait times
-
Improving store operations
-
Increasing staffing levels
-
Enhancing service quality
These efforts have helped Starbucks deliver four consecutive quarters of comparable sales growth, indicating that customers are returning to its stores.
Younger Customers Return to Starbucks
Analysts said Starbucks has recently shown signs of stabilizing market share, particularly among younger consumers.
Industry observers noted that while many households continue spending cautiously on dining, customers remain willing to purchase daily coffee and beverage products, supporting Starbucks' sales growth.
The trend has helped offset weaker discretionary spending in other parts of the restaurant industry.
Higher Margins and Strong Quarterly Earnings
Starbucks reported a significant improvement in profitability during the quarter.
Key financial highlights include:
-
Operating margin increased to 14.4%, up from 10.1% a year earlier.
-
Adjusted earnings per share reached $0.85, exceeding analysts' expectations of $0.66.
The company said refunds received during the quarter largely offset the impact of tariffs incurred during the fiscal year.
Cost-Cutting Supports Long-Term Strategy
Although the turnaround plan initially pressured margins through increased investments in staffing and store operations, Starbucks has also introduced measures to improve efficiency.
These include:
-
Workforce reductions
-
Office consolidation
-
Streamlined corporate operations
-
Cost management initiatives
Management said it remains focused on balancing customer experience improvements with disciplined cost control.
Outlook
Starbucks expects continued momentum as its turnaround strategy gains traction across global markets.
With stronger same-store sales, improving profitability, and renewed customer engagement, the company believes it is well positioned to achieve higher revenue and earnings growth despite an uncertain economic environment.
